Edward L. Martindale was born and raised in Jackson, Tennessee, and graduated from Jackson-Central Merry High School. He later graduated from Lambuth College with a Bachelor of Science degree and the Cecil C. Humphrey’s School of Law (Memphis State University) with his Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1983. Edward has continued to practice in all twelve counties in West Tennessee since 1984. He graduated from the National College of Trial Advocacy in Washington, D.C. in 1985.
He was inducted into Lambuth College’s Sports Hall of Fame in 2002. In 2004, he was inducted into the Jackson-Madison County Sports Hall of Fame.
Edward is a member of the American Trial Lawyer’s Association and Tennessee Association of Justice. In 2006, he was certified by the Tennessee Supreme Court as a Rule 31 Listed Mediator in the field of General Civil Mediation. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Tennessee Trial Lawyers Association, now Tennessee Association of Justice, Tennessee Golf Association, Jackson Country Club, Men’s Golf Association (President in 1982), YMCA, American Red Cross Society, Jackson-Madison County Sports Hall of Fame, Sacred Heart of Jesus High School. He has served as past President of the Madison County Young Lawyer’s Association and was elected President of the Jackson-Madison County Bar Association where he served from 1998 until 1999. He was awarded the Ernie H. Gray Paralegal Utilization Award in 2010. In 2013, he was appointed as an Honorary Board Member of the Tennessee Judicial Foundation for his outstanding service in helping provide legal scholarships to worthy students in Tennessee. He has written articles published in The Tennessee Trial Lawyer magazine and spoken at legal seminars.
In November 2008, he was appointed by Ron Ramsey, Speaker of the Senate to serve on the Judicial Selection Commission. When the Judicial Selection Commission was restructured a year later, he was reappointed in July 2009. He served on the commission until his term expired in July 2011.
He was elected a Fellow of the Tennessee Bar Foundation in January 2011.
Edward married his wife, Theresa, and they have two adult children. Edward and Theresa attend St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Jackson, Tennessee.
